PROGRAMS

Different reasons for beginning. One shared foundation.

People come to Therapeutic Mindfulness for different reasons.

Some are moving through something difficult. Some are in a period of change. Some want to understand relationships and recurring patterns more deeply. Others simply want to develop or deepen a contemplative practice.

Our programs begin in different places, but they share the same underlying approach: mindfulness practice, reflection, psychological understanding and the gradual integration of what is learned into everyday life.

FOUR PLACES TO BEGIN

Start with what is most present in your life now.

The programs are not different schools of Therapeutic Mindfulness. They are different applications of the same six-week process.

Each places greater attention on a particular part of experience while retaining the same contemplative and psychological foundation.

NEW TO THERAPEUTIC MINDFULNESS?

Free Introduction to Mindfulness

A free 90-minute group session for anyone who would like to experience mindfulness and the way we work before deciding whether to join a six-week program.

The session follows the same broad rhythm as our programs: mindfulness practice, contemplative teaching, psychological reflection and conversation with Leon and Kirsty.

No previous meditation experience is required.

01

Living with Difficulty

For times when experience feels particularly hard to carry.

This program is for people living through periods of stress, overwhelm, low mood, burnout, illness or other difficult experiences.

The emphasis is not on deciding what is ‘wrong’ with you. Instead, the work creates space to notice how difficulty is being experienced, how we respond to it, and what may become possible when there is a little more room between an experience and our automatic reaction to it.

Mindfulness practice provides a way of meeting what is present. Psychological reflection helps us remain curious about the wider patterns, relationships and contexts in which difficulty is taking place.

02

Life Transitions

For times when life is changing and the familiar no longer fits quite as neatly.

Transitions can be chosen or unwanted, joyful or painful, clear or difficult to name. They may include parenthood, grief, separation, relocation, career change, ageing, retirement or other significant shifts in life.

Change can unsettle familiar roles, relationships and ways of understanding ourselves. This program creates space to notice what is changing, what is being left behind, what we may be holding onto, and what is beginning to emerge.

The aim is not to rush towards a new identity or a neat conclusion. It is to meet change with greater attention, curiosity and care.

03

Relationships

For exploring how we meet ourselves and other people.

Relationships are one of the places where our habits, expectations, fears and ways of protecting ourselves can become especially visible.

This program offers space to explore how we relate — to ourselves and to other people. That may include forming relationships, deepening them, recurring relational patterns, communication, conflict, parenthood, separation or the experience of struggling to connect.

Mindfulness helps us notice what happens in the moment of relationship. Psychological reflection can help us become curious about the histories, expectations and patterns that may be shaping those moments.

04

Growth and Practice

You do not need to arrive because something is wrong.

Some people come to Therapeutic Mindfulness because they want to develop a deeper relationship with mindfulness itself.

This program is for beginning or deepening contemplative practice, exploring attention and self-understanding, and becoming more curious about meaning, wellbeing and how we want to live.

The emphasis is on developing a practice that can move beyond the meditation session and become part of everyday life. It is equally suitable for someone beginning mindfulness and for someone who already has a practice but wants more structure, reflection and depth.

SHARED FOUNDATION

Different focus. The same underlying program.

Whichever program you begin with, the core structure remains the same. You take part in a small six-week group facilitated by Leon and Kirsty, with contemplative practice, psychological reflection, home practice and individual support woven through the program.

Sometimes more than one program may feel relevant. Answer a few reflective questions about what brings you here and what you would like to explore. We’ll suggest a program — or sometimes two — that may be useful places to begin.
